Description

48hrs notice is required if you can not make the class so your spot can be offered to others.

You MUST be able to get yourself to the Wyrallah hall by 10:30am on the date of your class. Please choose the right class from the drop down box when booking.

My goal is to spend some 1-1 learning time with each person at the session as well as encouraging some social sewing time as a group.

What you can expect at the session:

  • You do not need to bring anything. A sewing machine & kit with basic supplies is provided for you to use during the time. You may choose to bring your own machine if you would like to practice on it instead though.
  • There are printed booklets covering a variety of sewing topics available on the day.
  • There are printed patterns for many simple sewing projects for you to use.
  • Bring your own fabric – for learning, I recommend upcycling old sheets, pillow cases, curtains or clothing to save $$. A few FQ’s or half a yard of a nice cotton fabric would also be a great starting point for most of the learner projects available.

TOPICS – Most general sewing areas from threading a machine, machine maintenance, fabric knowledge, using cutting tools, following patterns, grain/direction, seam finishing techniques, overlocking, stretch sewing, zips, snaps, piping, machine feet, interfacing, FMA and more.

Things we generally do not cover are more advanced skills like draping, drafting and fine garment construction as these require a lot more time to cover properly.

I do hope you will enjoy spending some time with some like-minded locals, pick up some new skills and hopefully make something to take home too!
